Located on the Luhuitou peninsula of famous coastal tourist city of Sanya, the site area for this project is 55,515 square meters. On the west side of the peninsula is the Sanya Gulf and to the east side is he Small East China Sea. To the south side of the peninsula is Luhuitou Park, and to the north side is Nan Shan Ling. he purpose of the hospital is to provide medical and rehabilitative treatments for those with cardio-vascular issues, and to provide for a comfortable environment in a resort hotel setting for the family that is with the patient. Since the area is well-known for having a completely protected natural cological system as well as beautiful mountain and sea landscapes, and given the natural garden haracteristics , it would be considered to be propitious for people needing medical treatment or ehabilitation to have the opportunity for recovery here.
The length from the east side of site to the west is quite long, while the width from the north to the south side of the site is relatively short, all while the general form of the site is quite irregular. In the overall planning, most of the buildings are low rise with only the resort hotel rising taller on the north side. The layout of the planning is meant to take advantage of the site’s irregular shape so that the use of the space is flexible and practical. The northeast side of the building is surrounded by the mountains which are covered in lush green vegetation providing a peaceful background for the rehabilitation center . The gentle sea breezes tend to blow from the north and west side of the site , helping to provide a natural place of repose and comfort to soothe the patients and visitors coming from the busy city.
The layout planning of the project is meant look like Arabic numeral “8”, the purpose of planning is to allow good efficient contact among each of the independent functional areas and yet separate the busier Out-patient clinical areas from the quieter Inpatient and resort hotel functions. While using the shape of the number “8” allows the most efficient use of the irregular shape of the site, it also creates two elegant and spacious interior courtyards that match the beauty of the exterior landscape and as well provide patients and their families an extraordinarily refined rest space.
